The objectives of this study are to increase knowledge of the problems experienced by previously sexually abused women who seek therapy. The empirical findings and clinical experience gained from the study will be used in the creation of a treatment manual for therapists.
Part 1 Introduction: prevalence of child sexual abuse; nature of child sexual abuse; families of sexually abused children; therapy with women who were sexually abused. Part 2 Mood disturbances: assessment and evaluation procedures; treatment procedures; self-blaming beliefs; self-denigratory beliefs; process and outcome of treatment. Part 3 Interpersonal problems: assessment and evaluation procedures; treatment procedures; relations with men; relations with partners; relations with women; relations with offspring; relations with family of origin and offender; assertivenss training group. Part 4 Sexual dysfunctions: categories and prevalence of sexual dysfunctions; causes of sexual dysfunctions; assessment and evaluation procedures; treatment procedures; case study - Alison and Michael, Amanda and Steve. Part 5 Conclusion: consumer evaluation and future directions.
